Primary Buildings

The primary buildings the conference will be in is: Macleod – 2356 Main Mall, Vancouver, BC, Fred Kaiser – 2332 Main Mall, Vancouver, BC, Civil and Mechanical Engineering – 6250 Applied Science Lane, Vancouver, BC, with the keynotes taking place in the Earth Sciences building – 2207 Main Mall, Vancouver, BC V6T 1Z4, Canada.

Lodging can be found a little north in both the West Coast Suites – 5961 Student Union Blvd, Vancouver, BC, which include the Gage Apartments and Shared Rooms, and the Pacific Spirit Hostel – 1935 Lower Mall, Vancouver, BC.

The Thursday night social will be held at Koerner's Pub – 6371 Crescent Road at 19:00.

Parking

If you are arriving by car, you can use the loading zone on the south side of the hotel front desk: Walter Gage Residence, 5959 Student Union Blvd, Vancouver, BC V6T 1K2. This is the address for checkin for all guests. If you are staying at the hotel/ dorms, there is $20 a day parking around the lodging (specifically marked).

If you are commuting to campus, you can view up to date information on the UBC parking map. The Health Sciences Parkade is the closest parking structure near the conference buildings.

Food

We will be have coffee, tea, and snacks in the morning and in the afternoon each day at the conference. Below you'll find a reference map about where you can buy lunch near the venue.

UBC provides a map (unfortunately backed by Google Maps) with filtering for Diet, Open Now, and other features. You can find the options closest to the lodging or the conference buildings from that site. There are small markets on campus that have produce and some ready made food.

You can also take a 15 minute bus ride to 10th Ave to a couple larger grocery stores if that fits your needs better. If you don't mind traveling a bit longer and are looking for more variety, there is an H-Mart on Dunbar St that's around a 25 minute bus ride away. They have prepared food as well as groceries.

Transit and Navigating

UBC has a great wayfinding page to make navigating around campus easy.

There are plenty of buses around the UBC campus to move around the outskirts of campus, or get you into town. You can use contactless payment or cash (no change given) on the bus. Check the fares page on the Translink website for more information.

Connecting Remotely

There will be live streaming of a proper subset of rooms (but recordings published after the conference). You can access that on our livestream page.
